I have a huge appreciation
for good quotes. They force me into thinking. I've heard it said that you'll
see what is inside a cup when it is bumped; it is my desire that the wisdom
which I attempt to take in will eventually overflow during life's troubling
bumps. And maybe, just maybe, that spillage will inspire someone else.

"If a commission by an earthly king is an honor,
how can it be that a commission from a heavenly King is a sacrifice?
- David Livingstone
O Lord, since Thou
hast died
To give Thyself for me,
No sacrifice could be too great
For me to make for Thee.
Lord send me anywhere,
Only go with me;
Lay any burden on me, Only sustain m.
Sever any tie,
Save the tie that binds me to Thy heart--
Lord Jesus, my King,
I consecrate my life, Lord, to Thee.
I only have one
life,
And that will soon be past;
I want my life to count for Christ,
What's done for Him will last.
I follow Thee, my
Lord,
And glory in Thy cross;
I gladly leave the world behind
And count all gain as loss.
- "Lord, Send Me Anywhere" is a
hymn by David Livingstone and Frank Garlock
"From prayer
that asks that I may be
Sheltered from winds that beat on Thee,
From fearing when I should aspire,
From faltering when I should climb higher,
From silken self, O Captian , free
Thy soldier who would follow Thee
From subtle love of
softening things,
From easy choices, weakenings,
(Not thus are spirits fortified
Not this way went the Crucified)
From all that dims Thy Calvary,
Oh Lamb of God, deliver me
Give me love that
leads the way,
The faith that nothing can dismay,
The hope no disappointments tire,
A passion that will burn like fire;
Let me not sink to be a clod:
Make my Thy fuel, Flame of God."

Yield
Not to Temptation
Yield not to temptation,
For yielding is sin--
Each victory will help
you Some other to win;
fight manfully onward,
Dark passions subdue
Look ever to Jesus, He
will carry you through.
To him that o'recometh
God giveth a crown,
Through faith we shall
conquer, Though often
cast down; He, who is
our Saviour, Our
strength will renew,
Look ever to Jesus, He
will carry you through.
Ask the Saviour to help
you, Comfort,
strengthen, and keep
you; He is willing to aid you, He will carry
you through.

“Sometimes we experience a terrible dryness in our
spiritual life. We feel no desire to pray, don’t experience God’s presence, get bored with worship services, and
even think that everything we have ever believed about God, Jesus, and the Holy
Spirit is little more than a childhood fairy tale.
Then it is important to realize
that most of these feelings and thoughts are just feelings and thoughts, and
that the Spirit of God dwells beyond our feelings and thoughts. It is a great
grace to be able to experience God’s presence in our feelings and thoughts, but
when we don’t, it does not mean that God is absent. It often means that God is
calling us to a greater faithfulness. It is precisely in those times of
spiritual dryness that we must hold on to our spiritual discipline so that we
can grow into new intimacy with God.”

Well, I won't! I'll make the best of being a girl and be as nice a specimen as

"Don't
instill, or allow anybody else to instill into the hearts of your children the
idea that marriage is the chief end of life. If you do, don't be surprised if

because they 'can't minister' otherwise, or because of social pressure."

"Don't laugh at the spinsters, dear
girls, for often very tender, tragic romances are hidden away in the hearts
that beat so quietly under the sober gowns, and many silent sacrifices of

sight. Even the sad, sour sisters should be kindly dealt with, because they
have missed the sweetest part of life, if for no other reason."

Help me. I have a hang up. God gave his only begotten son. Jesus Christ.Big deal. I believe that God new he could bring his son back as he was before, any time he wanted. It says nothing is impossible for God. Jesus has been with God since the beginning. He is God in the trentaty. Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I thank God for the way it sounds. But?
ReplyDeleteHello Mr. Kenny! I’m sorry to have taken awhile in getting back with you; I wanted to be sure to answer in a right way.
ReplyDeleteI’m not sure I am getting your question. Maybe if you clarified what exactly you’re looking for I could try to answer in a way that might be more helpful.
I do know that you are right; Jesus does make up the Trinity. And so our Father gave up His only Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1 John 2:1, 2) And while I believe Jesus and the Father knew that He would ultimately die and then rise again I think it is good to remember the in between times. The Father sent Jesus away to be made into the form of man. (John 1:14, 1-13) Jesus spent time in a womb—the God of all creation humbled Himself in such a way as to be confined in a young woman’s womb. Jesus spent years as a child; being laughed at, misunderstood, and under submission of human parents. He spent at least 30 years under the very laws He created—the laws of gravity, the laws of nature, the laws of the seasons. He spent time being hungry, in nauseous seas, among the worst of sinners, in the company of simple men, and eventually humbled and killed in a horrific fashion. So while we could say that Jesus’ sacrifice wasn’t much since He knew He would rise again I think it is very important to remember that great act of humility and the servant’s heart Jesus allowed Himself to be. (Philippians 2:3-8)
Also, II Corinthians 5:18, 19 says,
“And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.”
Our Abba Father, the Great Jehovah God, Himself served as our sacrifice. I don’t pretend to understand this fully; however, I rejoice in the amazing love of my Creator in that He himself came to redeem all men.
I am humbled that you would come to me with this though I am not sure if I have given a response which will prove helpful.
Blessings to you!
