Because He's Good . . .

“Do we believe we're loved by God because we're good, or are we loved by God because He is good? If we think we're loved because we're good, we will live under law, guilt, pressure, and under siege - held hostage by our fear of failure (and a desire for justice). We will also do the same to others, requiring their conformity to our standards before we will move toward them to bless their lives. If, on the other hand, we believe we're loved because God is good (though we are not), then we will live under grace, under His covering, released from fear. We will be able to love others with integrity and gratitude because of the overflow of God's love in us" - Nancy Groom

. . . . .

A friend typed this on Facebook today and I just couldn't help myself. I want to cry. Is this what's wrong with me? Could it be that so many of my failings stem from my misunderstanding of why God loves me? Why He loves others?
I fill like sunrise is filling my heart and I cannot contain it.

  1. This reminds me of the verse that says "if we believe not, yet He abideth faithful: He cannot deny Himself." His saving, forgiving, and keeping us is not related to our "goodness" in any way. But how to truly live in the faith that Christ "is all, and through all, and in you all"?

egarding Spock ... Yes, I knew he died, and it was utterly excruciating the first time I watched it ... I held myself together until the funeral when Kirk said "of all the souls I have known, his was the most ... Human ..." *sob*

I do need to tell you, though, that he doesn't stay dead ... It's very science-fictiony and I don't understand it, but supposedly when he touched McCoy's face and said "Remember", he put his spirit into McCoy's mind. He comes back to life in the next movie. But I've never actually seen it ... it just helps me to know it. :-) It doesn't make watching "Khan" any easier, though!!

  3. ♥ Dear Vickie,

hello! Thanks for putting up with my dramatics. Rest assured that my heart is much comforted to know of Spock's revival! My daddy bought the movies and we are both (my geek dad and I) are enjoying them.

And thanks so much for the Christmas tag. It was quite fun!

May your Christmas be filled with His love!

    Blessings to you, friend!
