Savior, Teach Me Day by Day
Savior, teach me day by day
Love’s sweet lesson to obey,
Sweeter lesson cannot be,
Loving Him who first loved me.
Love’s sweet lesson to obey,
Sweeter lesson cannot be,
Loving Him who first loved me.
With a child’s glad heart of love
At Thy bidding may I move,
Prompt to serve and follow Thee,
Loving Him who first loved me.
At Thy bidding may I move,
Prompt to serve and follow Thee,
Loving Him who first loved me.
Teach me thus Thy steps to trace,
Strong to follow in Thy grace,
Learning how to love from Thee,
Loving Him who first loved me.
Strong to follow in Thy grace,
Learning how to love from Thee,
Loving Him who first loved me.
Love in loving finds employ,
In obedience all her joy;
Ever new that joy will be,
Loving Him who first loved me.
In obedience all her joy;
Ever new that joy will be,
Loving Him who first loved me.
Thus may I rejoice to show
That I feel the love I owe;
Singing, till Thy face I see,
Of His love who first loved me.
That I feel the love I owe;
Singing, till Thy face I see,
Of His love who first loved me.
Words: Jane E. Leeson, London 1842.
Oh, I would love to put this to song and learn it! I just love the title. "Savior, Teach me day by day." So true! We learn a little every day (if we are listening to Him!), not everything in one week. It's so comforting to know that He is willing to take the time to teach us. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this, dear Frannie!!
This is a very special song. I love the old hymns....they are so deep and full of Life.
ReplyDeleteThe Lord Jesus bless you;

♥ Dear Sarah, Greetings friend! You are so right; He teaches us day by day. So faithful and so constant. This is actually a song (although this was the first time I had ever listened to it) but maybe you could do something different with it. :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you!
Frannie
♥ Welcome April! I am very glad you stopped by and left a comment. Yes, the old hymns are often full of meaning.
God bless you!
