Of Gardens and Poems

Hello dear sisters in Christ!
It seems that I have been blessed by a couple of good poems this week. Generally, poetry is not a favorite of mine, but at this time we are studying it in class. So, I have been plunged into the waters of poetry and I will say that a few poems have really become sweet and endearing to me. I was so blessed I wanted to share some with you and I hope you enjoy!

There is a Garden in Her Face- by Thomas Campion

There is a garden in her face

Where roses and white lilies grow;
A heav'nly paradise is that place
Wherein all pleasant fruits do flow.
There cherries grow which none may buy,
Till 'Cherry ripe' themselves do cry.

Those cherries fairly do enclose
Of orient pearl a double row,
Which when her lovely laughter shows,
They look like rose-buds fill'd with snow;
Yet them nor peer nor prince can buy,
Till 'Cherry ripe' themselves do cry.

Her eyes like angels watch them still,
Her brows like bended bows do stand,
Threat'ning with piercing frowns to kill
All that attempt with eye or hand
Those sacred cherries to come nigh,
Till 'Cherry ripe' themselves do cry.

This poem is about a woman who will not give up her virtue (kisses) until the time is right or "Till 'cherry ripe' themselves do cry". I find this poem sweet because I desire to remain blameless and pure just as the woman does.

There's a Garden (The Garden of Prayer)- by J. H. Fillmore

There's a garden where Jesus is waiting
There's a place that is wondrously fair
For it glows with the light of His presence
'Tis the beautiful garden of prayer

O, the beautiful garden, the garden of prayer!
O, the beautiful garden of prayer!
There my Savior awaits, and He opens the gates
To the beautiful garden of prayer

There's a garden where Jesus is waiting
And I go with my burden and care
Just to learn from His lips words of comfort
In the beautiful garden of prayer

There's a garden where Jesus is waiting
O can aught with His glory compare?
Just to walk and to talk with my Savior
In the beautiful garden of prayer

There's a garden where Jesus is waiting
And He bids you to come, meet Him there
Just to bow and receive a new blessing
In the beautiful garden of prayer

Isn't this such a sweet poem? If I would only think of prayer as coming to the garden and sitting with my Lord how sweet it would be! These two garden poems have excited me to begin our garden! Yay! May our garden (momma's a good gardener, but I'm clueless. . .a fun adventure and bonding time!) bring glory to His name!
Lord bless the rest of your weekend! With love,

~Thank you Kristen R. for this lovely picture taken in Florida!
