The Joys of Dust // Cleaning Tales

I've found keeping house one of the greatest joys of life. For as long as I can remember, I've delighted in making ordinary things beautiful, penciling in order where there is chaos and finding ways to make things work smoothly.

(Of course, though, there are plenty of times when I don't want to laundry ... my most detested chore)

You cannot imagine the joy I had when, after being away for several days for our honeymoon, I was able to get back into routine. The laundry pile had become a tumbling mountain on top of the washer, floors were needing vacuumed and bills asking to be paid.

Of course, when all's done and the broom has been put back into the closet, I also enjoy the pleasantness of having an afternoon to blog, drink coffee and watch Sense and Sensibility. I keep dreaming of chocolate cake in the future, too.

What kind of woman are you? Do you enjoy keeping house? Have you discovered your favorite and least favorite task?

With love, coffee and a clean house (woot woot!),

  1. What a sweet post Frannie! And a good reminder to be thankful for the simple joy of keeping house.

Unless I have a craft project I am dying to get to, I love keeping house. When there is a project I really want to get to, then it shamefully grates on my nerves. :P But I've learned that the sooner I get my chores done, the sooner I can get to that project. And most of the time, I am thankful for the clean, clear space to work in. :D

Laundry would be my least favorite chore. It just never goes away! ;) But I've always loved mopping and vacuuming. A shiny floor, and vacuum lines on the carpet bring a silly little grin to my face... :D

    Enjoy your clean castle!

  2. Well this made me smile... I feel the same way. My "domestic duties" keep me happy and content :)

And doing the laundry is actually one of my favorite chores ;)

    Thank you for writing this!!

    1. Good for you, Carolann! Wish you could sprinkle some of your loaundry -loving magic on me! :) Thankfully, my darling husband has to wear uniforms for work and with only having three I am kept accountable! (Unless of course I send him off in a dirty pair of pants ... which may have happened once or twice ... :O)

  3. Frannie, you are such a delightful friend, and I loved this post. The Cafe Amani is delicious!!! Thank you again!!
So I love to have things in order as well! I think we discussed that we have the same personality, ;). I get stressed when things aren't in order or like when I'm sick and don't feel like doing them. haha. I detest ironing...don't know why, just can't stand it! I am super bad at consistent dusting though as I find dust the day after I dusted...hmmm. There have been many nights (like 10pm) when I have gone on a cleaning spree and Robert just chuckles and lets me do my thing. :)

I do love keeping house and hope to keep getting better at it. I also love gardening and can't wait for spring!

    1. Emma, it is so good to know I'm not alone! Yes, we're the same personality and I can relate at the stress which comes when the house isn't in order! It's almost silly! :) And you have me laughing as I picture you night-cleaning and Rob just letting you be the awesome wife that you are. (I picture him chuckling quietly to himself while stroking his beard/goatee/facial hair ...Rob does have facial hair, doesn't he? And I picture you going about with music and your hair pulled up ... Anyways, I'm not sure if this is accurate but it seems possible. :] )

You are a blessing, Emma, and I love it when you stop by!!

      God's blessings to you!
