The Beauty of a King's Daughter

 "Likewise, ye wives [daughters], be in subjection to your own husbands [fathers]; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives [daughters];

While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement." 1 Peter 3:1-6

 Are not these "Little Women" lovely? Let's allow our King to work out the ugly self that plagues us, dear sisters, and allow Him to put in holiness. Let's allow Him to work in us a "meek and quiet spirit which is in the sight of God of great price." 

Lately, I've been reading An Old Fashioned Girl by Miss Louisa M. Alcott, and have been greatly impressed by the sweet, forbearing, and loving attitude the main character, Polly, shows. I know it is just fiction, but I cannot help but hope I could be just like her--spreading sunshine and virtue all about me. 

Let's press heavenward my fellow pilgrims! Long is the way, narrow the path, and difficult the time, but our Saviour is able and willing to see us through! 

 "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5, 6

"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds." Hebrews 12:2, 3

". . .for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Hebrews 13:5 b
