Off I Go! :)

Hello dear sisters! I hope this finds you all walking in the grace of our Lord and trusting Him.

I just wanted to say that "I'm off!" I'll be packing my bag soon and flying up toward my home state, Alaska. I am really looking forward to this trip and am so thankful to my Daddy and Momma and the Lord for giving me the chance to go. I'll try to take some pictures for you! Jeremiah and I will be leaving tomorrow and we are excited to see our dear Momma! (Allie, I wish you could come! We love and miss you and have a blessed day sister!)

 Alaska is such a beautiful state. This spring time/summer season is very lovely with long sunlight hours and flowers blooming. I lived in North Pole, Alaska for about 16 years or so, so I even know its smell! :) I can manuver its streets (I still get lost) with confidence, and I can promptly stop at any store. (These are all sillly, seemingly worthless things one does not experience in a new town).

Birch Lake, a lake which was about 2 hours away from my town. Our church has a Family Camp out there every year, a blessed and fun time. After I became a Christian, I was baptized in this lake! Isn't it lovely?

Anyways, I'm just letting you know that that's where I am! Have a blessed day sisters and also, THANK YOU for entering the give-away. I'm so blessed by the responce and am looking forward to it!

Please Excuse my Lack of Control

Oh, I just cannot resist! Have any of you heard of the hymn titled, "Buried with Christ" by William James Kirkpatrick? It is so amazingly true and it cuts to my heart in how my Christian walk should be. I just found it tonight on cyberhymnal.org. If you would like to hear its tune go to this link.

Buried with Christ

Buried with Christ and raised with Him, too,
What is there left for me to do?
Simply to cease from struggling and strife,
Simply to walk in newness of life.

Buried with Christ and dead unto sin;
Dying but living, Jesus within;
Ruling and reigning day after day,
Guiding and keeping all of the way.

Risen with Christ my glorious Head,
Holiness now the pathway I tread;
Beautiful thought from walking therein,
He that is dead is freed from all sin.

Living with Christ, who dieth no more,
Following Christ, who goeth before;
Not under law, I’m now under grace,
Sin is dethroned, and Christ takes its place.

Do you have a favorite hymn? Please share!

He Hideth My Soul

I know this picture is blurry, but I think it gives a picture of Mrs. Crosby's song. A rock is strong, permanent, grounded, in climbing upward it gives one a handgrip or foothold, it offers a shelter and foundation.

"He Hideth My Soul" by Mrs. Fanny Crosby

"A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
A wonderful Savior to me;
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
Where rivers of pleasure I see.

He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life with the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
He taketh my burden away;
He holdeth me up, and I shall not be moved,
He giveth me strength as my day.

With numberless blessings each moment He crowns,
And filled with His fullness divine,
I sing in my rapture, oh, glory to God
For such a Redeemer as mine!

When clothed in His brightness, transported I rise
To meet Him in clouds of the sky,
His perfect salvation, His wonderful love
I’ll shout with the millions on high."

How could someone not love Fanny J. Crosby? What a couragous, contented, godly woman! Oh, that I can be like her! Sometimes, people will innocently call me "Fanny" and then will quickly and sometimes blushingly say, "Oh, I mean Frannie." Yes, I guess being called Fanny could be seen as a terrible mistake or insult, but in all honesty, who better to be called? :)

I was playing my violin earlier today and this hymn came to me. It was not played beautifully (infact, it was dreadfully squeeky :), however, I was blessed because I felt like I was playing a song which glorified our Lord and I was beginning to feel more at rest. The following verse of Mrs. Crosby's hymn speaks amazing, calm truth to me:

"A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
He taketh my burden away;
He holdeth me up, and I shall not be moved,
He giveth me strength as my day"
 .
God bless you tonight, dear sisters! Let us press onward!
And thank you for entering the give-away! I'm so excited!

Awards!

Greetings from Missouri! Life in the Halbert household is going well and in various directions! : ) This upcoming week Daddy, Jeremiah, and I will be leaving for Alaska--my home state! for those of you who don't know, we left Alaska when my Daddy got a new job with the National Scenic Riverways. It was a big move for us since we children had lived in Alaska for 16 years or so. However, the move was a huge blessings and while we miss Alaska we are so thankful God has brought us here! So, with all that said, we are heading up to Alaska for my Momma's retirement from the Air National Guard, a very exciting thing!

A river in our area. So pretty!

 Allie can't come with us since she is working diligently in Wyoming. (We miss you Al!) And soon Discovery Ministries, the camp where I work as a cook, will be entering its busy--and I mean busy--season. So we Halberts are doing well, but going in various directions!! :)

Recently, I was blessed by two awards from Addie and Eden, two very sweet sisters in Christ!

From Addie I recieved the Prolific Blogger Award. A prolific blogger is one who is intellectually productive, keeping up an active blog with enjoyable content.
After accepting this award, recipients are asked to pass it forward to 7 other deserving blogs and their authors.

So, I would like to award this to: My Followers!
With eight known followers I know and enjoy each one! If you have already recieved this, please pass it on!
Congratulations sisters!

From Eden I recieved  the Lemonade Award!

Again, I would like to award this cute award to my eight known followers! Congratulations!

Thank you Eden and Addie for your thoughtfulness! God bless you sisters!

I know you all are entering your busy summer season too. SO may the Lord bless you with faith, joy, and peace as you press on!
With love,

My First Give-away!

Hello sisters! I hope this day finds you all well. I'm excited because here is my first give-away and I hope you all enjoy it!

As you all know the give-away was based on the two polls on my sidebar. First, I want to thank you all for voting! I enjoyed seeing every vote. For some factual information 80% of you play the piano, 30% play some sort of stringed instrument, one of you play a wind instrument, and one plays the harp. Now, I must say that I am in the company of talent! An overwhelming amount of you preferred smoothies! So, I based the give-away on the most popular choices- piano and smoothies!

Here are the gifts:

Goody Number One: A very neat and informative recipie book on healthy drinks including juices, smoothies, coolers, infusions, and soups. With over 200 pages, I hope its a good one! I found this at Hastings, a very neat store which sells new and used books, music products, and videos. I hope you all don't mind that this is used; it is in very good condition! Here is a review by one customer found at Amazon.co.uk

Goody Number Two: Five sweet cups I thought were super cute for summer and smoothies!

Goody Number Three: A two in one cd with 17 songs playing the great works of Johann Sebestian Bach! I don't think this cd has any piano, but I don't think you'll mind too much. :) Performed by The London Symphony Orchestra, the various songs are very nice!

Alright, so how do your enter you may ask?
 ~ Just leave a comment saying so!

*If you don't have a blog that's okay! Just leave a comment saying that you would like to enter and that your entering from an email.

For extra entries you may:
~ Follow my blog (if you would like!) If you become a follower or if you already follow, please let me know through a comment!
~ Post about this give-away on your blog! The more the merrier! When you have done this, please let me know through a comment! Please feel free to use the picture if you would like!

I am going up to Alaska this week for my Dear Momma's retirement, so this give-away will close June 12th.

I hope you all enjoy! God bless you sisters!

Praise the Lord I'm done!

Hello dear sisters! I hope this day finds you all well. This is such an amazing time in a my life, a time of spring, a time of being with my family (either physically or in heart!), a time of cleaning, and a time of growing in the Lord (although I must say that He is the gardener, not I).

I'm happy to say that I am officially done with my first year in college. For many of you who don't know, with the blessings of my parents and the urgings of the Lord, I have been taking classes with the hopes of becoming a teacher one day. This past school year I have been taking classes from a local satellite school two days a week. My momma has even been taking classes with me and tonight I took my last test! Praise the LORD! I also want to congratulate my dear momma who also is done with this year and also finished her associate degree! Congratulations Mommy-dearest!

A second announcement is that I will be attending College of the Ozarks starting this January. I recently received their letter of acceptance. This whole thing is pretty neat because I had applied once before and was not accepted. After applying the second time I felt that I was going to be accepted and was very disappointed when I was not. However, our God works in mysterious ways. You see, during this time I was developing a feministic and "independent of my authorities" attitude which I believe is very dangerous and outside of the will of God for a woman and daughter. So, when I was not accepted for the second time I saw that my heart was in danger and that I desired things outside of the will of God. By God's grace I asked Him to show me the meek, quiet, submissive, and home-keeping heart I knew He wanted me to have. And praise the Lord He did! So, you see, it is no coincidence that I was accepted only after the Lord did a work in my heart. No, I believe that God knew exactly what He was doing and I praise Him for it. . .even though it involved disappointment in the beginning!

In the mean time I am purposing to become more and more the Christian girl, sister, and servant I ought to be. Sometimes I get so off track! But God’s love is amazing and He pulls me back through His discipline and love. A few goals I have for this summer are: To be a productive and encouraging servant at Discover Ministries, the Christian camp where I work as a cook. To learn home duties and spring clean! Learn how to can and can some things. Write my sister Allie who is working in Wyoming. (Allie we miss you and I hope you are having a splendid time) To grow in the Lord and becoming a godly woman.
And to be a blessing to my family!

Well, off I go to look for some ideas for the give-away. Please don’t forget to vote!
May the Lord bless you all, dear sisters. Have a wonderful day!

I've got a surprise!

Greetings dear sisters in Christ! I hope this finds each of you filled with peace and love for our Creator as you face your day.

Well, as my title reads, I have a  surprise! And it deals with you all and the two polls on my side bar. . .I am wanting to host my first give away! There's no special occasion; I just know how much fun I get from entering a give away and thought that I could be a blessing and share the joy!

You may wonder what I'm giving away? Well, that's where you come in! In one week (Saturday the 22nd of 2010)  I will add up the most popular choices on the two polls- the most played instrument and the favorite drink. That will decide what I giveaway. My idea is to find a lovley and godly cd featuring the top-picked instrument and also to find something that goes along with the most favorite drink! I'm excited!

So, after this week is over I will add the choices, go shopping, and then come back and let you all know how to enter! I hope this works! :) What you can do in the meantime is vote on the two polls and invite your friends (if they'd like!). The more the merrier and the better chance for a less played instrument--wouldn't a harp be pretty?

I cannot tell you how excited I am for this.  :)
Have a blessed week!

Daughters and Wives

Greetings sisters! I hope this day finds you all well and growing in our Lord. Lately, I have not had much brain-power or creativity for blogging. . .perhaps it's because of school? :) I'm not sure. So in place of some creative article which I could offer, I found two sweet, true, and attention-grabbing quotes which I enjoyed.  I love to find a good quote. . .often, it will give me new ideas or put my thoughts into well-phrased words. I hope you are blessed!

“An undutiful daughter will prove an unmanageable wife.” -Benjamin Franklin

"If you would have a good wife, marry one who has been a good daughter.” -Thomas Fuller

As girls and young women, what we are practicing now (discontentment, rebellion, an impure attitude, disobedience and unsubmissiveness, and all the other sinful behaivors) will show up in our later years if we do not allow the Lord to cleanse out our hearts. This is painful, but the blessings that will gain when we are obedient to the Lord is greater! Let us prepare now so that, if the LORD wills, we can be sweet and good blessings to our husbands.

Have a blessed day and God bless you!

Happy Mother's Day Momma!

"Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised." Prov 31:31

Happy birthday and Mother's Day, dearest Mamma! I know we all love our mothers, but just as the Bible says, " Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her" (Prov 31:28) so I am excitedly rising up to bless my dear Momma. I am so thankful to have her as a teacher of school, womanhood, and housekeeping. I am blessed to have her as my confidant and best friend. I am glad to have her as my example of a mother and wife. If you cannot tell. . .I love her totally and dearly.

Such a fun and sweet mother!

Momma earnestly and excitedly using the saw while helping Daddy fix their bedroom's floor.

How sweet!

Isn't she lovely?

Momma, thank you for listening to my hopes and secrets, my confessions and upsets. Thank you for teaching me lessons I should have learned long ago and for laughing at and with me. :) Thank you for being a sweet and submissive wife-an excellent example. And for being a faithful and good mother. I hope to be a blessing to you in your future and to bring you lots of joy and smiles. I LOVE YOU and praise the Lord for giving me to you and Daddy!

"Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all." Prov. 31:29

With lots of love,
 Franniegirl
