The Truth Project and Evolutionists

"Great is God our Lord, great is His power and there is no end to His wisdom. Praise Him you heavens, glorify Him, sun and moon and you planets. For out of Him and through Him, and in Him are all things..... We know, oh, so little. To Him be the praise, the honor and the glory from eternity to eternity."- Johannes Kepler

Hello dear sisters in Christ! Daddy, Momma, and I are participating in the Truth Project- a very neat set of video lessons. This week and the last we covered the topic of evolution. I was very blessed by these topics and greatly appreciated the facts and quotes presented. I would love to talk about evolution and creationism, but since we're heading out to Pennsylvania tonight I wanted to give a little introduction and leave some quotes for ya'll to think about. Please know that I am learning about all of this. I wish I could explain different things about the below quotes. . .if any of you have something to add please do!  :)

~"One has to only contemplate the magnitude of this task to concede that the spontaneous generation of a living organism is impossible. Yet we are here - as a result, I believe, of spontaneous generation." - George Wald

~"Evolution is a fact amply demonstrated by the fossil record and contemporary molecular biology."- Carl Sagan

~"An honest man, armed with all the knowledge available to us now, could only state that in some sense, the origin of life appears at the moment to be almost a miracle, so many are the conditions which would have had to have been satisfied to get it going."-Francis Crick

"Biologists must constantly keep in mind that what they see was not designed, but rather evolved."- Francis Crick

The above men are very smart (Mr. Francis Crick was co-discoverer of DNA), yet they refuse to believe in a Creator. Mr. George Wald believes in spontanious genertation--the thought that life could come from non-life. This was once a popular a popular idea until Louis Pasteur proved it wrong many years ago. Mr. Wald chooses to believe in the impossible because he does not want to believe that the world was created. Mr. Carl Sagan stated that evolution was a fact demonstrated by the fossil record and contemporary biology. One has only to look at the modern advances of biology to see that some how, some way every cell--a highly advanced creature--has been designed. Mr. Francis Crick, a brilliant man, had to remind himself that while he was gazing at life and all of its perfect order and design was evolved. It is so sad that these brilliant men would refuse to see that there is a Creator and refused the opportunity to enjoy exploring science through Heaven's eyes.

~"In the face of the enormous complexity that modern biochemistry has uncovered in the cell, the scientific community is paralyzed. No one at Harvard University, no one at the National Institutes of Health, no member of the National Academy of Sciences, no Nobel prize winner -- no one at all can give a detailed account of how the cilium, or vision, or blood clotting, or any complex biochemical process might have developed in a Darwinian fashion."-Michael Behe

~"In crossing a heath, suppose I pitched my foot against a stone, and were asked how the stone came to be there; I might possibly answer, that, for anything I knew to the contrary, it had lain there forever: nor would it perhaps be very easy to show the absurdity of this answer. But suppose I had found a watch upon the ground, and it should be inquired how the watch happened to be in that place; I should hardly think of the answer I had before given, that for anything I knew, the watch might have always been there. (...) There must have existed, at some time, and at some place or other, an artificer or artificers, who formed [the watch] for the purpose which we find it actually to answer; who comprehended its construction, and designed its use. (...) Every indication of contrivance, every manifestation of design, which existed in the watch, exists in the works of nature; with the difference, on the side of nature, of being greater or more, and that in a degree which exceeds all computation."– William Paley, Natural Theology (1802)

I am just so interested in this all! May the Lord bless your weekend!

The Halbert Herald- Of Tests, Spring, a special EMT, and a Wedding!

Hello dear sisters in Christ!
I hope this finds you all well and growing in the grace of our good Lord! This post is just a quick update to the Halbert's comings and goings! :)
~ Allie is very close to finishing her EMT class! With one more test to take she is very excited and we are very proud of her!
~ Spring is popping up all over!
~ Mom and I are very busy with tests. . .yuck! :)
~ This weekend Mom, Allie, Jeremiah, and I (sadly Daddy cannot go) are going to the Pocono Mountians in Pennsylvania for a vacation! This is going to be alot of fun I think and I'm so thankful to Mom and Dad who are giving us this privilege! Then we head to Ephrata, PA for a wedding. I'm really looking forward to this wedding because I know it will be centered around the Lord and will be godly. . .something I haven't really seen! I am very excited! Plus, weddings are sweet anyways!

I think that covers most of it. :) I feel like I'm being washed over with things to do, but I know anything I learn now will help me later! May we all become the sweet and godly maidens God desires us to be!
With love,

Sisters...

To my dear Allie. . .

There is no better friend than a sister. And there is no better sister than you. ~Author Unknown

Our roots say we're sisters, our hearts say we're friends. ~Author Unknown

Sisters share the scent and smells - the feel of a common childhood. ~Pam Brown

Between sisters, often, the child's cry never dies down. "Never leave me," it says; "do not abandon me." ~Louise Bernikow

Sisters don't need words. They have perfected a language of snarls and smiles and frowns and winks - expressions of shocked surprise and incredulity and disbelief. Sniffs and snorts and gasps and sighs - that can undermine any tale you're telling. ~Pam Brown

A sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit, a golden thread to the meaning of life. ~Isadora James

If your sister is in a tearing hurry to go out and cannot catch your eye, she's wearing your best sweater. ~Pam Brown

I, who have no sisters or brothers, look with some degree of innocent envy on those who may be said to be born to friends. ~James Boswell

A sister can be seen as someone who is both ourselves and very much not ourselves - a special kind of double. ~Toni Morrison

Is solace anywhere more comforting than in the arms of a sister. ~Alice Walker

Big sisters are the crab grass in the lawn of life. ~Charles M. Schulz

Who knew I'd grow to love you so much? :)

Spring is Coming!

Hello again! Spring is arriving in our Missouri area and I am so excited! Here are a few "spring" things that have blessed my day and I hope your's too!
~ Upcoming daffodils that have turned yellow and are beginning to bloom just today!
~ Open windows allowing the wild clean air in.
~ Windchimes joyfully ringing out their tune.
~ Froggies chirping a quircky song (one of my favorite sounds!).
~ Dropping my brother off so he may go fishing!
~ Reading a book outside in the gazebo on a sunny day.
~ The new arrival of bugs...yuck! :o)
~ A tiny tourest town preparing itself for a busy summer season.
~  The sun bathing the land in its special spring like way.
~ The ability and blessing in shedding that winter coat and having the freedom to wear a light sweater!

P.S. A little side note- Have you ever wanted to ride an elephant? That may seem like a silly question but I am so excited to say that I hope too! If the Lord wills, Allie and I will be going to a circus this Friday! Can you tell I'm excited? We were kindly blessed by Allie's boss Mrs. Renee who runs a daycare and bought many tickets for us, her day-care children, and others! Momma says I went to a circus when I was younger, but I don't remember. So. . .this is an adventure I am greatly looking forward to! Plus, if you pay, you can ride an elephant! I can tell you that I am willing to pay for this once in a life time experience! How fun! Please pray that our drive along with all of the children and their parents may be a safe one!

God's Work in a Heart

                                           Dear Sisters in Christ,
Greetings! My heart so happy and glad! A few minutes ago I opened a letter from a dear friend and sister in Christ who has been going through many difficulties. . .one is being in jail. I must say however, that her testamony shows that Jesus is real, living, kind, and good. She is growing and through these tough times she is seeing God's mercy. Praise the Lord! And through this God has been blessing me because I am privileged to see her grow and walk in the Lord. He is so merciful and good! Also, I have seen God's mercy and faithfulness in  how He is using me. I have been afraid and worried that I would write something that would hurt feelings when Momma told me that I must speak the truth. For me speaking in love is somewhat easy, but speaking the frank and real truth. . .how difficult it is! So to combine the two- love and truth- was a challenge. But, I praise God that He helped my dear friend see my love for her. How good He is!

I would also like to use this post to encourage jail ministry. "Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me." Matthew 25:36 This is a subjest very near to my heart. Those in prison need our prayers and love. Please do not misunderstand me- wisdom is very crucial here. Listen to your parents and obey their desires for you. For example, I would visit with every person in jail pitying them and their problems, but Dad has wisly reminded me that most people in jail are there for a reason and that all my love and compassion will not change their heart. Because I look through rose-colored glasses I would take in every homeless person, but Daddy reminds me that that their are dangers and I must be wise. I am very thankful for his advice. In my case, I already knew this person before she entered jail; I was not contacting a stranger, something that could be dangerous and unwise. So again, please ask for and obey your parent's direction. With that said, I do think it is the Christian's responisbility to encourage the hurting, imprisoned, hungry, and unloved. There are many ways to do this, but single ladies can do one certain thing that is crucial- pray. Pray that those in jail may seek the Lord, repent of their sins, and use their time wisely. God can use a Christian in jail just as He can a Christian in church. He is able!

As you may have seen I'm very excited about this. I am greatly encouraged by God's faithfulness. He is living!
May the Lord bless your day today! With lots of love,

Of Gardens and Poems

Hello dear sisters in Christ!
It seems that I have been blessed by a couple of good poems this week. Generally, poetry is not a favorite of mine, but at this time we are studying it in class. So, I have been plunged into the waters of poetry and I will say that a few poems have really become sweet and endearing to me. I was so blessed I wanted to share some with you and I hope you enjoy!

There is a Garden in Her Face- by Thomas Campion

There is a garden in her face

Where roses and white lilies grow;
A heav'nly paradise is that place
Wherein all pleasant fruits do flow.
There cherries grow which none may buy,
Till 'Cherry ripe' themselves do cry.

Those cherries fairly do enclose
Of orient pearl a double row,
Which when her lovely laughter shows,
They look like rose-buds fill'd with snow;
Yet them nor peer nor prince can buy,
Till 'Cherry ripe' themselves do cry.

Her eyes like angels watch them still,
Her brows like bended bows do stand,
Threat'ning with piercing frowns to kill
All that attempt with eye or hand
Those sacred cherries to come nigh,
Till 'Cherry ripe' themselves do cry.

This poem is about a woman who will not give up her virtue (kisses) until the time is right or "Till 'cherry ripe' themselves do cry". I find this poem sweet because I desire to remain blameless and pure just as the woman does.

There's a Garden (The Garden of Prayer)- by J. H. Fillmore

There's a garden where Jesus is waiting
There's a place that is wondrously fair
For it glows with the light of His presence
'Tis the beautiful garden of prayer

O, the beautiful garden, the garden of prayer!
O, the beautiful garden of prayer!
There my Savior awaits, and He opens the gates
To the beautiful garden of prayer

There's a garden where Jesus is waiting
And I go with my burden and care
Just to learn from His lips words of comfort
In the beautiful garden of prayer

There's a garden where Jesus is waiting
O can aught with His glory compare?
Just to walk and to talk with my Savior
In the beautiful garden of prayer

There's a garden where Jesus is waiting
And He bids you to come, meet Him there
Just to bow and receive a new blessing
In the beautiful garden of prayer

Isn't this such a sweet poem? If I would only think of prayer as coming to the garden and sitting with my Lord how sweet it would be! These two garden poems have excited me to begin our garden! Yay! May our garden (momma's a good gardener, but I'm clueless. . .a fun adventure and bonding time!) bring glory to His name!
Lord bless the rest of your weekend! With love,

~Thank you Kristen R. for this lovely picture taken in Florida!

A Lovely Poem by Annie Flint 1919

God hath not promised skies always blue
Flower strewn pathways, all our lives through;
God hath not promised sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow, peace without pain.

But God hath promised strength for the day,
Rest for the labour, light for the way,
Grace for the trials, help from above,
Unfailing kindness, undying love.

God hath not promised we shall not know
Toil and temptations, trouble and woe;
He hath not told us we shall not bear
Many a burden, many a care.

But God hath promised strength for the day,
Rest for the labour, light for the way,
Grace for the trials, help from above,
Unfailing kindness, undying love.

God hath not promised smooth roads and wide,
Swift, easy travel, needing no guide;
Never a mountain, rocky and steep,
Never a river turbid and deep.

But God hath promised strength for the day,
Rest for the labour, light for the way,
Grace for the trials, help from above,
Unfailing kindness, undying love

A Peek into a Busy Afternoon and the How-to's of Working Joyfully

Greetings from a lovely Missouri afternoon and a sister with dishes in the sink! : )
Today is Friday and I have been washed over with a list of to-do's. I was surprised with a work schedule for this weekend and although I enjoyed my first day back as a cook I came home to the realization that the work has only begun. Dishes have piled themselves high, laundry limply overflows the basket, and a bathroom screams in need of attention. Don't forget the sweeping and mopping which needs done. : ) I ask myself, "How shall I get through all of this?" A few things come to mind and I hope to apply them.
~ Give praise that I am learning to keep a home now and not later.
~ Give thanks that we have dirty dishes to wash, dirty clothes in the basket, and a family to pick up after.
~ Praise the Lord for His care, for my ability to clean up, a momma who taught me how, modern convinieces, and a dishwasher!
~ Put some lovely godly music on to uplift and encourage my day.
~  Realize that my duties have been given to me by the Creator and Lord of the universe and that I have the blessed privilege of making home a clean and joyful place to be!

"That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed." Titus 2:4,5

This is what I would like to be as an older woman. What a lovely thing to be used by the Lord! But as young women we have the responsibility to obey God here and now, not in our own homes Lord willing. I hope that this verse can become a realization in me! May we all press on and learn to joyfully obey the Lord here at home!
 Your house-cleaning sister in Christ,
